Getting Started

How does Xtell work?

Paste your website URL and Xtell automatically crawls your pages, docs, and FAQs. It trains a custom AI chatbot on your content in about 60 seconds. Add a single code snippet to your site and your chatbot is live.

Do I need coding experience to set up Xtell?

No. Xtell is designed for non-technical users. You paste a URL, customize the widget appearance, and copy-paste an embed code. If you can edit a WordPress page, you can install Xtell.

What kind of websites does Xtell work with?

Any website. Xtell integrates with WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Squarespace, Webflow, Next.js/React, Ghost, and any site where you can add a script tag. We also offer a REST API for custom integrations.

How long does training take?

Most sites are trained in under 60 seconds. Larger sites with hundreds of pages may take 2-3 minutes. You can add additional training sources (PDFs, text files, Q&A pairs) at any time.

Can I train my chatbot on more than my website?

Yes. Upload PDFs, text documents, and custom Q&A pairs alongside your website content. Xtell combines all sources into one unified knowledge base.

What does 'unlimited messages' really mean?

Every paid plan includes truly unlimited AI-generated responses. No credits, no quotas, no overage charges. Your chatbot answers every visitor question at no extra cost. We don't throttle or rate-limit conversations.

How does Xtell compare to Chatbase pricing?

Chatbase charges $40-$500/mo with credit-based limits. GPT-4 responses cost 20 credits each, so their $150/mo Standard plan only covers ~500 AI answers. Xtell Pro at $49/mo gives you unlimited responses, which is 80% cheaper with no limits.

Is there a free trial?

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept all major credit cards (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) via Stripe. Annual billing with a discount is coming soon.

AI & Accuracy

How accurate are the AI responses?

Xtell is trained exclusively on your content. It only answers from verified sources and uses confidence scoring to prevent hallucinations. When confidence is low, it transparently says it doesn't know and offers to connect with a human.

What AI model does Xtell use?

Xtell uses state-of-the-art language models optimized for customer support. We handle all the AI infrastructure so you don't need your own API keys or model expertise.

Can the chatbot answer questions not in my content?

By design, Xtell only answers based on your training data. This prevents made-up answers. If a question falls outside your content, the chatbot will say it doesn't know and can route to a human agent.

Does the chatbot improve over time?

Yes. As you update your website content and add training sources, Xtell re-trains automatically. You can also review conversation logs to identify gaps and add targeted Q&A pairs.

Pro and Business plans include a full analytics dashboard. Track total conversations, resolution rates, popular topics, and customer satisfaction. See exactly what your visitors are asking.

Can I use Xtell on multiple websites?

Starter includes 1 chatbot, Pro includes 5, and Business gives you unlimited chatbots. Each chatbot can be trained on different content for different sites.

Is there an API?

Yes. Pro and Business plans include full API access so you can integrate Xtell into your existing tools, trigger conversations programmatically, and build custom workflows.

Security & Privacy

Is my data secure?

Yes. All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. We don't use your data to train our AI models. Your content and conversation data stay private to your account.

Where is data stored?

Data is stored on secure, SOC 2-compliant infrastructure. We use industry-standard security practices including encryption, access controls, and regular security audits.

Can I delete my data?

Yes. You can delete individual chatbots, training sources, and conversation history at any time from your dashboard. Account deletion removes all associated data permanently.

Switching & Migration

How do I switch from Chatbase to Xtell?

It takes about 5 minutes. Create a Xtell account, paste your website URL to train your new chatbot, swap the embed code on your site, and you're done. No data migration needed, as Xtell trains directly from your live content.

Will I lose conversation history from my old provider?

Xtell starts fresh with your new chatbot. Your old provider's conversation history stays with them. All new conversations are tracked in your Xtell dashboard from day one.

What if I'm not satisfied?

Every plan has a 30-day free trial. If Xtell isn't right for you, cancel anytime, no questions asked. There are no cancellation fees or lock-in contracts.
